2016 Mazda CX-9 Up for Award

The 2016 Mazda CX-9 is rounding out the year with a bang. It was recently named to the shortlist for the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Award at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where more than 50 automotive journalists and reviewers from North America voted from a cluster of crossover SUVs, standard SUVs, cars and trucks in other categories. (The cars they voted on are considered new for the 2016 and 2017 model years, but will be on sale before January.)

Jurors will vote on the shortlist nominees next month. Winners in the SUV, car and truck classifications will be announced at the Jan. 9, 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

The all-new 2016 Mazda CX-9 hit dealership showrooms earlier this year. It features the newly turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine and an amazing 310 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 rpm.
