Brakes are the most important part of your car. They have one single purpose – to stop your car as quickly as possible. What you normally think of simply as “the brakes” is a complex system composed of multiple components: the hydraulic brake fluid, the master cylinder, the brake drums or discs, and anti-lock sensors.

Having your brakes inspected at regular intervals can help you avoid expensive repairs. There are a number of signs that your brakes may need repair:
  • the brake light on your dash is lit yellow or red,
  • the brake pedal feels squishy when you step on it,
  • there is a squealing or noise when you brake.
  • If any of these things occur, it is time to see a brake specialist.
Always look for an ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) certified specialist. ASE certification means that your technician has passed rigorous testing about his knowledge of various braking systems.
