Coming to Mazda CX-5 SUVs in Late 2017: a Clean-Burning SKYACTIV-D 2.2 Diesel Engine

The Kelley Blue Book accolades practically rained down upon the 2016 Mazda CX-5 CUV, and an overall rating of 9.4/10 from expert reviewers put on the finishing touch, citing a nigh-indomitable fuel economy of up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway for Sport front-wheel drive models with manual transmission, as well as that of up to 26 mpg city/33 mpg highway for automatic transmission models. And Mazda continues to excel well into 2017, if its promise to equip 2017 CX-5 models with SKYACTIV-D 2.2 turbocharged, clean-running diesel engines has anything to say about it. And we at Colonial Mazda can't wait for the big later-2017 reveal.

Proposed high rpm and an enviable torque-driven experience aside, CX-5 plans to further wow the segment with a diesel knock reduction system comprised of proprietary Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control technologies. And with plans to meet strict emissions standards once more, Mazda promises to keep CX-5 a model of efficient fuel use.

But what about handling? Here, Mazda G-Vectoring Control impresses, with engine, steering, throttle and suspension working in concert to subtilize adjustments while maintaining sharp response. Tough terrain navigability is on order, too, with am upgraded SKYACTIV chassis to help diminish vibration and floating during travel.

2017's diesel marvel is on its way. So what are we waiting for? A 2016 CX-5 test drive is right around the corner at our Danbury, CT showroom! Stop by today, and we'll be happy to put you behind the wheel.
